Autumn Term in Year 5 | Whickham Parochial Church of England Primary School

Welcome to Year 5
Your teacher is Mr Chalmers
Your teaching assistant is Miss Gubari

Here are some important things to remember along the way...
  • Our class will be having PE lessons on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You must come to school wearing your kit on these days.

  • Reading is so important! Your book will go home with you on a Monday and be returned on Friday mornings.

. Our homework will be a bit different this year. All tasks will be set using the app 'Class Dojo'. Children used this platform during school closure. Tasks will be set on Mondays and include spelling, times tables and reading activities.

Computing Week

This week, we have been learning all about how to be more digitally aware. We have discussed ways to keep safe on the internet and have created some posters with our own top tips. As well as this, we took part in a P4C enquiry asking whether it is ever acceptable to ignore people online... Have a look at some of our spoken responses below.

South-American Art
To kick off our time in Year 5, we have been studying South American Art and the work of Joaquin Torres Garcia and Frida Kahlo. Inspired by Garcia, we drew symbols of our life and used printing techniques to bring them to life. We then looked at Kahlo's tragic early-life and were inspired by her love of spider monkeys to sketch and make our own from clay. Have a look at our work!
