Please visit the 'Home Learning' tab of the St Matthew's website and click '6P' to find information about working at home.
Welcome to Class 6P's Autumn webpage!
Your class teacher is Miss Parry.
Your class teaching assistant is Mrs Coleman.
Some important information for you to remember:
- PE sessions will be every Wednesday and Friday. Children should wear PE kits to school on these days.
- Reading books will be sent home every Monday night and should be kept at home all week. They should be returned every Friday morning. New ones will be given out on Monday.
- Children will be allowed to chose a book from the class library to read over the weekend to promote reading for pleasure at home.
Please encourage your child to read daily and spend some time reading with them every night (don't forget to sign their reading record!)
Just five minutes a day can make a huge difference to their progression!
Year 6 will continue to use TT Rockstars and Spelling Shed this year to further consolidate their spellings and times tables! Children will be given their personal login details and can access these resources via the internet the apps. Children can practise relevant and differentiated times tables and spellings in a fun, interactive way. Below is a list of the year 5 and 6 statutory spellings if you fancy some extra spelling homework!
There will be a spellings and times tables test every Friday morning in class.

Spelling Shed is back!
Your username is exactly the same as the beginning part of your St Matthew's email.
You do not need to add the rest of the email, just the '14' and your 3 letters.
Then, your password to log in is exactly the same password you have for Google Classrooms!
Log in, play some of the games and perfect your spellings!
Homework will be set every Monday night via class dojo. Children have all been provided with their log in details.
Homework is provided for completion over the course of a week, it is sent on a Monday night and is to be completed by Friday to fit around family lifestyles and commitments. There is no homework set at weekends.
If a child has been unable to complete homework because of family commitments, then parents/carers are asked to write a note to the teacher. If a child has problems with the homework, then parents/carers should let the teacher know.
A huge well done to all of the children in class 6P so far who have completed their first set of homework on class dojo! I really enjoyed seeing and marking your work!
Congratulations to our new Head boy and girl and Deputy Head boy and girl!
All of the children who applied did really well and it was so hard to choose!
Well done everyone, I'm sure the appointed children will make St Matthew's proud!

In our recent Art topic we have been learning all about Egyptian Art.
We have been looking at the artist Ala Awaad and learning all about how he was inspired by the Artwork discovered by archaeologists in Egyptian tombs. Today, we drew our own Egyptian inspired mural. We used pastels to replicate the bold and bright colours used by Ala Awaad. Our creations were fantastic!
In our recent RE topic 'Loving' we thought carefully about what unconditional love is and what the parable of 'The Prodigal Son' had taught us.
