Another week has passed, where did the time go? We have only 25 school days left until the end of term so it would be brilliant of you could have a huge push on home learning this week. I have included some really fun activities and all topics are ones which have been covered in school so it will be great to refresh your memory. I will be reviewing work each day and look forward to reading your work. Some of the topics include:
English-action and Adventure stories (a great one for those who enjoy playing video games)
Electricity-fun games to find hazards around the house
Maths-Area and shape
Geography-What happens to our toilet water. Yuck!
Also, I will now be including answer pages at the end of the pack so you can check if you have the correct answers.

Parents/ carers - please have a look at the new Year 6 Summer 1 Topic Map to see what we would have been studying for the next six weeks. Go to 'Curriculum' at the top of this page, then scroll down to 'Curriculum Topic Maps' and down
to 'Year 6 - Summer 1 Topic Map - 2020'.
NOTE - Just a note to remind you that you do not need to print off everything that is put up as an 'activity' for your child. We are trying to choose as much as possible that does not need this, and your child could draw their own, take a screen shot, and label or write their answers on a note pad and send them to us on Class Dojo.
Thank you.

Children can communicate with me via Class Dojo if they would like too.

This work comes from the Come and See Religious Education programme which is taught in all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Liverpool. We have given a general guide to the learning opportunities that your child may have come across in school and have only suggested and selected a small amount of the programme. The activities aim to keep Religious Education practical and fun.

The first part of learning is called – EXPLORE. This shares your child’s everyday experiences and helps them to see how the Catholic faith is lived in their everyday lives. The second part, called – REVEAL shares bible stories that links to their everyday life.

Please see the Pentecost tasks below:

Google 3D Animals Video Tutorial: How to View Tiger, Giant Panda ...

Toy Story’s Woody might have been famous for saying ‘there’s a snake in my boots,’ and you can make that a reality – well, an augmented reality. Google has given people a chance to get out and about with the animal kingdom, all whilst following social distancing. Ready for some lions, tigers and… pandas (oh my)? Here’s what you need to know… How to use Google 3D animals To use the feature, first you’ll need to make sure you have the right software. You’ll be using your phone or tablet, so for Android users, Google requires an operating system of Android 7.0 or later. For iPhone users, you need to be running iOS 11.0 or later.

Now, to take a walk on the wild side, you just need to google an animal on your device – just type into the search bar, as an example, ‘lion.’ Just underneath the image search results and the Wikipedia description of the animal, you’ll be able to see a box that says, ‘Meet a life-sized lion up close’. Click the ‘view in 3D’ button that will be clearly displayed, then click ‘view in your space’ to see the animal in your own surroundings.

You’ll need to give Google access to your camera for it to be able to insert the animal into your space. What animals can you find?

After Friday’s closure of schools millions of families will be cooped up indefinitely and Grylls, the chief scout, is warning that without a plan, “a week stuck at home for a family can be as tough as a week in the mountains”.

Grylls, a former soldier, is launching the Great Indoors initiative with the Scout movement. They will be fronted by Grylls and scout ambassadors, including the TV naturalist Steve Backshall and Helen Glover, the double Olympic rowing champion. Year 6, this time is a very strange and confusing time for adults across the world right now, so of course, it is extra confusing for children! It is a new experience for us all!
However, if we all follow the government advice and listen to the guidance from the professionals and our NHS, everything will be okay.
What is quite interesting to think about, is that right now... we are all a part of history!
In years to come, (just like we learn about different aspects of History in school) children will learn about 2020, when the world had to deal with the Corona Virus, and all of the children had to do their school work at home!
I think it would be a really good idea if you created your own 'lock down project.' Lock down doesn't have to be something scary and boring, but something worth writing about and thinking about how we are now creating History.
Why don't you create a mini diary or a journal about all of your adventures and activities during this unusual time.
I'm sure it could become a valuable piece of historical evidence in years to come!
Think about:
1) What did you learn this week at home that you wouldn't normally learn in school?
2) What fun thing did you do this week?
3) Why is learning at home different to learning in school?
4) What are you looking forward to doing when you come back to school?
5) Food diary?
6) What communication have you have with different adults this week? How have you communicated with them?
7) Where have you been this week? Have you been outside?
8) Can you explain some of the new vocabulary we are hearing on the news, for example, 'social distancing' and 'isolation?'
9) What have you appreciated this week that you wouldn't normally spend time to appreciate?
If you would like me to read some of your responses please post them on Class Dojo, or feel free to keep them as a personal journal!
