SID2019 Parent & Carers - Get Involved!

Tuesday  5th February is Safer Internet Day 2019 (#SID2019), the day will be celebrated globally and is a very important date in our school calendar.  For the fifth year running we at St Matthew’s will be supporting the campaign focusing on the UK theme;

“Our Internet, our choice  –  Understanding consent in a digital world”

The theme is an empowering message for us all and discussions in class will focus on how consent and permission work in an online context and how our choices can make a positive change online.

The celebrations in school will begin on Monday 4th Feb when the children will attend an age appropriate assembly to be introduced to the theme. This will be followed during the week by a number of fun, class, activities and lessons exploring the subject.

Safer Internet Day is a fantastic opportunity to reflect as a family about how you can use the internet and technology safely, responsibly and positively. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, foster carer, aunt, uncle or older sibling, we can all play a role in empowering children to enjoy their time online.

See links below for more information on how to get involved or go to the official SID2019 website https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2019

We have on order copies of the latest edition of the "Digital Parenting" Magazine by Vodafone which we will disseminate to you via the children as soon as they become available. In the meantime talk to the children, ask them about what they are doing in school next week and get involved in keeping all of our children at St Matthew’s safe online.

Happy SID2019 !
