Remember to log on to Dojo to keep in touch and for some short, daily tasks!
40 acts of kindness
Remember Lent is still continuing so keep on trying to complete as many of these acts of kindness as you can. Can you be creative and change a few so that they're possible from home?
Try to solve these questions. Like I always say: Be careful!
1. 2.13 + 2.46 =
2. 4.32 + 3.24 =
3. 5.17 + 2.23 =
4. 3.55 + 2.73 =
5. 7.29 + 5.88 =
(Remember, if it's not possible...)
6. 6.47 - 2.26 =
7. 6.65 - 3.12 =
8. 5.97 - 2.88 =
9. 6.67 - 2.99 =
10. 5.46 - 3.78 =
Don't forget to keep logging on to TTRockstars over the next few weeks. Lets get 5G the top ranking class in the school!
Joe Wicks has announced that he is showing online PE lessons to help keep children fit and healthy during the school closure. These will be live on Youtube every morning at 9:00am. If you can't make it live, they'll be available to watch as a video later on. It's called 'PE with Joe'.
It's much tougher than you would think. Can you challenge your parents to join in with you? Who's can keep up with Joe the longest?
Fancy something different?
Try the 30day lego challenge! Fun ideas to keep your mind creative and active! Send any pictures through Class Dojo for us to see what you've achieved
RE - Holy Week
Hi everyone! As we come to the end of Holy Week, here's a little PDF of some tasks and ideas that you might want to complete.
Even though churches are closed, take a moment this Sunday to remember the meaning of the day and the sacrifice Jesus made for us.
I hope you are all well
Here's a really nice little comprehension to have a look through. Some very challenging questions but hard work is good remember - it's like a mini brain workout!
If you'd like to take a photo of your answers to write them down on Dojo, I'd love to see what you've written!
Maths - Comparing fractions
Remember our work on decimals from earlier in the year? Have a go at these questions
Make the denominators the same first
Example: Which is bigger
1 or 4 ?
Turn the first one into 25ths as well:
5 is bigger than 4
Our next Geography topic is all about California! But what is California best known for? Why is it so popular and famous around the world?
Your task is to create a reseach project all about the American state of California. You might research things like:
- Where is California? (can you include a map?)
- How big is it compared to England?
- What is the climate like?
- Stats like how many people live there?
- What is the average temperature in the summer?
- How are England and California different? How are they similar?
Or even some more creative ones such as:
- What celebrities live there?
The choice is yours. Projects will receive some bonus Dojo points when we return to school; the better they are, the more points!
Maths - Percentages %
Just before Easter, we would have had a look at percentages in class for one week.
'Percent' just means 'out of 100'.
So if you scored 90 goals out of 100 shots, you scored 90%.
If you get 86 points out of 100 points in a test, you got 86% correct.
If you only ate 5 sweets from a pack of 100, you ate 5% of them.
You can also write them as fractions or decimals:
90% = 90 = 0.90
86% = 86 = 0.86
5% = 5 = 0.05
Have a go at these questions from the workbook, see how you do!
Our class novel for the Summer term is 'The Demon Headmaster'
Oh yes, brilliant book! (and maybe true?)
If you have the book at home, perfect. If not, ask your parents if there are any videos online which might be nice to watch together.
Then, imagine that our own headmaster - Mrs Sime - was actually a demon headmaster! What would school be like? How would things be different? Would you be on her side or secretly working against her!
Write a diary entry for what a day in school would be like. If you'd like to post them to ClassDojo, I'd love to read them :)
Science - Gestation
What on Earth is gestation?
It's just a word used for pregnancy - how long a baby is growing and developing for until birth.
But do all babies from every animal (humans, dogs, cows, sharks, mice or even kangaroos!) have the same length of time for gestation?
Read this first:
Then do a bit of research:
- Which animal has the longest gestation period?
- Which animal has the shortest?
- How long is the gestation period of a cheetah?
- How long is the gestation period of a human?
Literacy - Relative clauses
We've been putting relative clauses in our work all year long! Have a listen to the song, remind yourselves on what they are and then have a go at the worksheet below it.
Remember the commas and relative pronoun:
The cream sofa , which had very soft cushions, was brand new.

Top spellers will receive bonus Dojo points when we get back to school
I can't believe we're 7th in Liverpool on TT Rockstars! I DO belive we can do even better though!
Log yourselves on and rock out, lets blast some times table tunes and get our school to number 1 on the charts!
Here's a link to our Summer 1 topic map. It has a rough outline of the topic areas we are studying this term and some of the skills we will be covering. It's a great source of information if you would like to give your children a starting point for their Summer learning.
This is a brilliant website! It has online and live streamed yoga classes, fitness groups and mindfullness sessions as well as information to help look after yourself during this time away from school
Take care everyone, hope to see you all soon :)
Some fun lessons to try
Missing lessons like Art, DT, Music, French or Computing? This little website has some free lessons to have a go at!
Hello everyone! I saw this beautiful picture and it really got me thinking about our world. See if you can introduce your family to Philosophy, maybe get the family together in a circle and talk about this picture.
- What do you think about this picture?
- What do the hands represent?
- What message do you think it is trying to tell us?
And maybe try this 'big' question, or think of one of your own:
Is it the job of humans to protect the world?
Did everyone see this on the news?
BBC Bitesize have launched a brilliant new website for learning at home.
Every day there's a new lesson - and there's different topic every day!
Definitely give this one a try and you can always send me photos of your work through Dojos if you want some help or just want to show off!
Daily work packs
Hi everyone, Mr Edwards and I are going to be putting some learning packs together for you to have a go at. There'll be a mix of Maths, Literacy and a third, different subject each day. You could print these off if you like, or simply put it on the computer.
If you want to share you work with me through Dojos, I'd love to see what you've done!
I am so proud of all of your hard work during this time away from school.
Here's an ebook of the text you'll need for the literacy work in the daily work packs:
It's the last term of Year 5 but I'm sure we'll have a few weeks together before the holidays. We're going to keep on doing the home learning packs to keep you busy.
As always, keep on sending photos or messages of your work through Class Dojos to that I can see what you've been up to! Mrs Wilkinson is in school today making new work packs for everyone which will be sent out in the post. They will also have a copy of your logins again in case you've lost them :)
Take care everyone, see you soon
This journal is a lovely way to get our thoughts in order at this time. It will guide you though changes going on and how to make sense of our feelings. Work through it slowly and always ask if there's any questions you have
Here is the next e-book we'll be reading together. You will need this to do the literacy tasks
And here are the next set of daily work packs!
