The children are learning about living things and their habitats. During our first lesson the children worked together to determine what is alive, dead and what has never been alive. Using their knowledge of the different characteristics of living things, such as they breathe, reproduce and respond to stimuli, they recognised which animals, plants or objects were alive, dead or never been alive.
The children have also been describing different habitats using adjectives and identifying animals that live in said habitats. The children worked together to recognise and/or describe the suitability of the habitats for their chosen living things and how living things (particularly animals) adapt to live there.

The children have been working together to identify the offspring of different animals. The children have planned a test to determine whether we get faster as we get older. They have decided they are going to complete 5 races between children of different ages to see who is faster. Some of the children have predicted it will be the older students who will be faster because they have longer legs and are older so have had more practice. Stay tuned to see the results!
We completed our test/experiment and we discovered that younger children are faster than older children, most of the time, but to make it a fair test we would have to do more tests to make sure this was true!
The children have also been discussing healthy eating and healthy living. They completed numerous activities to observe the effects of exercise on the heart. The children worked together to monitor the change in their heart beat and discussed which exercise had the biggest effect.
