Year 6 Transition Page
We appreciate that this will feel like a very odd time for you and you will also be worrying about transition to secondary school for your children. The authority has now confirmed that there will be no common transfer /secondary transition day this year in July as there would normally be. Public Health have indicated that it would not be safe to do so.
However, Liverpool Local Authority are proposing that the week beginning the 6th July is a 'virtual transition week'. During this time staff from both settings will be discussing all pupils making this transition.
It is important to keep checking the secondary school website, they will be providing lots of ways to make the transition as sensitive and seamless as it can under the current circumstances.
The secondary settings have been advised to promote virtual tours of their environment and key staff, as well as outlining all specific information for new intake.
- Liverpool Learning Partnership have produced a transition booklet and will signpost to various resources which can aid pupils’ thinking about transition. The booklet could be completed in school or at home. (Attached to page)
Again we would like to reassure you that our Year 6 teachers will be planning transition work as well, for home learning and for those children who have returned to school.
The school will be in touch with the Year 6 parents next week with regards to end of year arrangements, obviously we cannot celebrate at this point the way we would normally but we do plan to mark the event and make it special for the children in a number of ways which I am sure they will enjoy.
